The Golden Spike with the world's fastest man Usain Bolt as well as the home matches of the famous Moravian football club Baník ... these are characteristic for the reconstructed City Stadium in Vítkovice. Now, there are up to three football pitches, two grassy and one pitch with artificial turf for year-round operation.

The second stage of repairs of the Vítkovice stadium comprises roofing of the Northern and Southern arches of the stands, refurbishment of sanitary facilities, canteens and press centre facilities. The first stage covered a brand new roofed stand for more than five thousand seated spectators, an innovated tartan track or entrance to the stadium. After the overall reconstruction, the stadium will thus have 15,000 fully roofed seats. From the season 2015/2016 the municipal stadium is also fully prepared for hosting national or international soccer matches. The complex meets all sports, operational and safety conditions of the Soccer Association of the Czech Republic. The new stadium is equipped with a fully functional camera system monitoring all facilities of the stadium and the grounds around it and also with a name-specific ticket system and an easier access for the law-enforcement authorities in case the fans are on the rampage |
