Děčín, Reconstruction of Jordanka Compound

Reconstruction and extension have been carried out on the premises of a former chocolate factory in the centre of the town. Thanks to the reconstruction, a new multipurpose facility arose which houses shops, restaurants, apartments and offices. The building is connected with the central pedestrian zone.

Description: The reconstruction consisted in the interconnection of two 
separate buildings, with the aim of creating a multipurpose compound. The structure has 4 aboveground floors and 1 underground floor. The original load-bearing brick structure 78 centimetres thick was strengthened with a ferro-concrete skeleton. A part of the walls was demolished. The restaurant is located in the first underground floor where there are well-preserved original vaulted ceilings. The second aboveground floor is designed as a shopping mall above the grocery store, situated on the first aboveground floor. From this mall, the individual shops can be entered. On the third and fourth floors there are nine luxurious maisonette apartments.Wooden replicas of the original atypical windows were used in the whole building. The roof above the glass entrance part and above the shopping mall is of asphalt strewn with gravel, while the sloping roofs are covered with plain clay tiles. The parking area of 2,100 square metres is paved with concrete interlocking pavers and is controlled by an automatic parking system.
