Upgrade of railway line Pardubice – Ždírec nad Doubravou has improved its parameters

On Friday 3 June, a ceremony of ribbon cutting at the railway station in Chrudim opened an upgraded part of the railway line from Pardubice to Ždírec nad Doubravou to traffic.

This project was carried out by a team of Division Traffic Infrastructure in a JV. The main objective of this project was to make the railway’s technical condition corresponding to the European parameters and standards. The biggest benefits of the upgrade are improvement of the travelling comfort and safety on the railway.

The project comprised works on the railway substructure and superstructure at the main tracks and station tracks, replacement of the track grid, construction of new platforms, rebuilding of the existing stations and level crossings and renovation of the signalling system. Moreover, cables were adjusted, profiles of drain ditches were changed and the track bed and selected culverts were repaired. The builders also constructed new island platforms in the stations Chrudim, Slatiňany and Hlinsko v Čechách. The inter-station sections Chrást u Chrudimi – Slatiňany and Slatiňany – Chrudim were reconstructed as well. A new passing loop Cejřov was built between the stations Vrbatův Kostelec and Prosetín.
