Hluboká nad Vltavou has got a new port

More than 70 docks for parking of small pleasure boats and two larger passenger ships will be offered by a new sports port in Hluboká nad Vltavou. The construction is a part of the project of making the Vltava River navigable in the section České Budějovice – Hluboká nad Vltavou.

The port can provide safe parking to up to 73 recreational speedboats with a length of up to 12 metres at wooden and stone piers at an attractive place right below the chateau. For the whole season, the boat owners will pay depending on their boat´s length CZK 10 to 18 000 and for a month CZK 2 500 to 5 000. The port was created in a meander of the original Vltava riberbed, which has been running below the chateau since 1930s. Hundreds of cubic metres of mud have been dredged during the construction. The area has been separated from the river by a floodgate with a new vertical-lift bridge and quay walls and wooden piers on the water surface have been added. The port, which remains in the possession of the state and which is managed by the Directorate of Waterways, has got a ramp for launching boats and is equipped to supply them with water and electricity. HOCHTIEF CZ took part as a subcontractor on the stone tiling and paving, stop log and metal structures. The most interesting part of the delivery was a hydraulic vertical-lift bridge at the entrance to the port. A major part of the construction works was formed also by reinforced concrete monolithic structures delivered by the Special Activities Plant, Steel Structures Centre, as well as delivery of formwork and reinforcing bars.
