Construction of the LERCO centre in Ostrava started
The construction of the LERCO science and research centre in Ostrava was launched on Monday with the tapping of the foundation stones.
The aim of the prestigious LERCO (Life&Environment Research Center Ostrava) project will be to link basic research, applied research and the commercialization of scientific outputs. This newly built scientific research hub, once completed, will enable the transformation of the region from a "coal mining" to a "healthier and smarter" region. The state-of-the-art facilities and 8 research teams of the project will enable the implementation of activities in a broad and unique interdisciplinary focus in biomedical, life and behavioural sciences, from basic through applied research. It will thus support the development of innovative scientific research potential in non-technical fields with an impact on public health and has the ambition to become one of the world's leading scientific research centres. The construction, which is under the responsibility of our Division Building Moravia, is expected to be completed in February 2026.
