Project type:

Traffic Infrastructure

Period:

09/2020 – 08/2021

Description:

The new footbridge over the Elbe River is to replace the original footbridge, which was pulled down after the fall of the footbridge in Prague, Trója from the same designer at the end of 2017. The new footbridge will be 228 m long and 4 m wide. It will connect the left bank of the river Labe with the centre of Nymburk. It is primarily intended for pedestrians and cyclists, but in case of an emergency, rescue units, firefighters or police can use it too. Its structure will be easier to inspect and it is designed with a focus on minimization of potential corrosion because corroding cables were the main safety risk of the previous footbridge. If the construction starts according to the plan, the first cyclists or pedestrians could start using it during summer 2021.
