Description: The renovation of the more than one kilometer long section of the influent conduit from the Římov dam into the water treatment plant Plav in the region of České Budějovice, damaged by the 2002 flood, is completed. It was possible to realize the project within a short time above all thanks to the means from EU funds, specifically the ISPA programme,. A back-up ND 1000 pipeline was laid  next to the repaired one. It is placed in a secured terrain approximately ten meters from the stabilized river bank. Moreover, under the riverbed of Malše there is now a new passage for two pipelines, each with a one-meter diameter. Thus the result is not only  the renovation of the damaged influent conduit and the removal of the flood damage, but above all a greater safety of the South-Bohemian waterworks system and its improved readiness for crises. The water reservoir Římov on the Malše river and the Plav water treatment plant secure the supply of water for a large area of South Bohemia with almost 400 000 inhabitants.
