Modernization of railway line Votice – Benešov u Prahy

BENEŠOV U PRAHY – On Wednesday 30 November 2011 relocated rail track between the stations Votice and Olbramovice was opened with a ceremony. Two new railway tunnels – Olbramovický and Votický – were put into operation on the modernized section of Transit Railway Corridor IV. Replacement of the rail track has shortened the distance by 122 metres and by completion of the entire route, the speed limit will have been increased from the current 100 km/h to 150 km/h for standard trains and to 160 km/h for tilting trains.

Division Traffic Infrastructure of HOCHTIEF CZ, a. s. participated in construction of the Votický tunnel on this part of the rail track, the project team was managed by Ing. Tatíčkova and Ing. Štefan. Cutting of the tunnels, crucial structures of the project, was carried out 24 hours a day. Excess soil from construction of the tunnels – one cut-and-cover and four driven – was deposited on the disposal site Heřmaničky where an embankment, part of the follow-up construction of the railway corridor, will be situated.

Main tunnel works on the other three tunnels that are located on the relocated rail route – Zahradnický, Tomický I and Tomický II – are completed, the tunnels are now being equipped with traction line hangers, security system elements are fitted and electrical lighting wiring is installed.
