HOCHTIEF CZ supports this year`s Ekofilm

Ekofilm is the oldest international film festival of its kind in Europe and is a member of the association of festivals on the environment ECOmove International. This year is already the 33rd in sequence and is entitled “International Film Festival on the Environment, Natural and Cultural Heritage”.

The festival starts on October 8th in České Budějovice and Český Krumlov and takes place until October 15th. During the festival visitors will watch competitive collection of 54 films selected out of 142 registered. The films come from 33 countries of the world, 45 of them are from the Czech Republic.


Many of these films are focused on global environmental problems, such as climate changes or exploitation of non renewable sources. Issue of oil extraction appears in movies from Australia, USA and Switzerland. Films also address protection of endangered animal and plants species, life of people in rarely visited territories, consumer life but also return to the nature. This year is, according to the organizer, Auviex Company, abundant in films with topics of natural and cultural heritage and topic of preservation of historical monuments.


The enunciator of the Ekofilm festival is the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic, co-enunciators are South Bohemian Region, statutory town of České Budějovice, town of Český Krumlov and public citizen action Ekofilm. The president of the festival is Prof. RNDr. Pavel Kovář, CSc., dean of Faculty of Natural Science at Charles University in Prague. The festival is under the patronage of prominent figures of political world and Czech Committee for UNESCO.


The festival is supplemented by plenty of accompanying events, such as professional discussions, projections and lectures, musical events and exhibitions of photography.


Joint-stock company HOCHTIEF CZ has became a partner of this year’s Ekofilm. Being an important construction company it feels responsibility for living space so it has decided to support activities leading to its improvement.
