A tree adorned with ribbons – symbol of the topping-out ceremony and a traditional symbol of luck and protection of a house and its occupants is now decorating the house built in the years 1913 and 1914 according to the design of Matěj Blecha. Reconstruction of a historical building in the busy city centre is a great opportunity to promote the company; however, the staff performing the works has to cope with some difficulties as well. In accordance with the requirements of the preservation authority, the facade and parts of the framework of the floors, walls and columns have been preserved but the other parts were completely demolished. This was followed by foundation of the new building, by monolithic and precast structures and repair and reconstruction of the roof structure. Now the works continue with renovation of the front facade and with repair of windows, doors and stairs.
From the very beginning the works have been complicated by difficult accessibility of the construction site and minimum space for the site installation and for storage of materials. The difficulties have been caused both by location of the construction at the busy Wenceslas Square and also by the requirement to retain the sidewalk in front of the building fully operational.
