For the thirteenth time in a row, best constructions executed in the Czech Republic will attempt to receive the public, non-anonymous award Construction of the Year. The aim of this event is to acquaint the professional and laical public with the standard of Czech architecture.

HOCHTIEF VSB traditionally participates in this prestigious competition and this year enters the competition with the grand project of National Integrated Air Traffic Control Center (IATCC) in Jeneč close to Prague. The project of the air traffic control center is extraordinary and unique both by Czech local and European standards. The latest, maximally secured technologies are placed within. After a demanding test operation and navigation system check the whole complex should be put into full operation in July 2006.

This year the professional jury, presided by ing. arch. Radomíra Sedláková, will have to choose from a couple of dozens of projects. The title Construction of the Year may be awarded to a maximum of 5 projects.

The competition is announced by foundations ABF, ECONOMIA a.s. - magazine Stavitel (Builder), Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, Associated Builders’ Institute of the Czech Republic and organizer of trade fair FOR ARCH - ABF, a.s.

The jury will assess e.g. architectonic impression of the project and its total contribution, quality of construction work, suitability of used construction materials and products, professionalism in execution, total spatial and functional arrangement of the project, integration of the project in given surroundings or the length of execution period.

Besides the prestigious award of the Construction of the Year, special prizes will also be announced: Prize of the magazine Stavitel for the best project financed from public sources, SPS prize for the best project related business plan, prize of the Mayor of the Capital City Prague and public prize, which will be decided by voting on internet pages of ABF.

The announcing of the results of the competition Construction of the Year 2005 will take place during the celebratory evening of FOR ARCH trade fair in September 2005.
